Bienvenido Julio!
I am sure that your children will have told you that we have had a visitor in school this week. Julio Vegas is a Headteacher from Toledo in Spain and will be with us until Friday 17th November. Julio is working alongside me and the senior leadership team to compare school leadership roles in England and Spain. He is also visiting classrooms and working with the children to support their learning of Spanish particularly in Key stage 2 and also to explore the teaching methods that we use here. It is always fabulous to have a visitor from another country in our school; it means that our children get a real insight into another country and culture. The children have loved having Julio in school this week and all are very keen to practise their Spanish speaking with him!
We are celebrated International Schools Week (13th -17th November) by holding our own ‘International Day’ on Thursday 16th November.
Obviously the focus of our day was on Spain! During the day the children worked in Family Groups on a carousel of activities to enhance their understanding and knowledge of Spanish culture. Children dressed in anything red or yellow on this day.
