Teaching objective: To describe Will as a character using adjectives. Children to describe appearance, personality, behaviour and their opinion of him.
Working in mixed ability groups children described Will’s character.

Using Question Marks
21.-3.19
Today in English we focused on correctly punctuating our sentences when asking a question. We first discussed when we used questions and Mrs Burlison modelled using a question mark at the end of a question. We then worked in teams to write a questionnaire about reading. We then came back as a whole class to write a class questionnaire. We made sure that all of our questions were punctuated with a question mark.

The Legend of Spud Murphy

This morning we acted out a scene from ‘The Legend of Spud Murphy’. We concentrated on using facial expression and body language to show how the characters were feeling.

Role Play – Pharaoh in the bath

We began by reminding ourselves of the event which happened in chapter five. We then worked in groups of three to role play the events. We focused on developing our facial expressions, gestures and made sure we used a clear voice. We then shared our scenes with the rest of the class. We discussed what we liked and how we could improve.

Egyptian Message

This morning we wrote a warning message saying why you shouldn’t open Sennapod’s Tomb! We included imperative verbs, gave consequences and made the tone formal and important. We then added our messages and scrolls to our class display!

Conscience Alley
28.01.2019
We began to read the beginning of the story ’There’s a Pharaoh in our Bath’. Children were asked to predict what the story might be about. Then the children played ‘Conscience Alley’, one group said why the pharaoh should be woken up and other group why he shouldn’t. Everyone enjoyed putting their point of view forward.

Speaking and Listening

This morning in English we looked at singular and plural nouns. We discussed the spelling patterns. To develop our speaking and listening skills we then practised and performed a singular and plural poem to the class.
