Spring Term
We have two Learning Challenges this term; this is what we will be learning about:
Why has Greece always been in the news? – We will be learning all about Ancient Greece and why the country is a popular tourist destination. We will have opportunities to learn about Greek Myths, make Greek jewellery using clay and paint and even plan and design our own Greek Salad.
Why is the sound that Little Mix and Ed Sheeren make enjoyed by so many? – We will start our Learning Challenge with listening to different genres of music, deciding why we like certain sounds to others. Later on, we will learn all about how our ears work and learn all about pitch and sound.
Autumn Term
We have three Learning Challenges this term; this is what we will be learning about:
- How could we cope for a day without electricity? -We will be finding out just how important electricity is in our everyday lives. We will talk about how electricity is made and how it gets to our homes. We will also be learning how to keep ourselves safe when using electricity! Later on, we will be able to investigate the properties of conductors and insulators before creating our own circuits.
- Why were the Romans so powerful and what did we learn from them? -We will start our learning challenge by finding out who the Romans were and where they came from. We will do research on their army and we find out how the Romans came to be such powerful fighters. By the end of the Learning Challenge we should be able to create our own weapons to defend an empire! The aim of our Learning Challenge is to explain what the Romans ever did for us and we will be thinking about the impact the Roman Empire has had on our own lives.
- What happens to the food we eat? – Before Christmas, we will be finding out more about our bodies and what happens when we eat! This Science Learning Challenge is not for the faint hearted and will see us creating models of our teeth and other parts of the digestive system. We will also talk about healthy eating and keeping our teeth clean.
