Red Nose Day
As part of Comic Relief we came to school dressed in red clothing. The morning was spent completing load of fun activities in our class and decorating enough biscuits for every child in the school to receive. After lunch Ashley arrive and some of us went off to help her teach a dance to the younger children. After lunch, it was our turn to take part in the dance and we thoroughly enjoyed it before we performed it as a whole school. It was an easy to follow dance with a very catchy tune. We think it’ll be stuck in our heads for a while to come.

World Book Day
As part of World Book Day we came to school dressed as a character from a story we had read. We were also asked to design a costume for one of these characters. We had a wide variety of costumes and designs with us all using our imagination to produce some brilliant ideas. Well done to Keira and Amelia D who won the design a costume competition.

Unicef – Spot the Rights
As a class we are eager to learn the UN Convention Rights of a Child. We worked in groups to look at some everyday scenarios and spot the rights that could relate to situations within the pictures. We then discussed as a class, the different rights that we could see and the ways that these rights were being met.

No Man’s Land
A group of children from Year 6 visited the Ton Hall in Bishop Auckland to study some photographs looking at women’s place in war. Debbie showed us around the exhibition before we got ourselves into groups and took a deeper look at one of the photos. We thought about the story behind the picture we had chosen by looking at the overall scene.
When we arrived back at school we were introduced a photographer called Lee. He worked with us to create photograph of our own about our life at school. We will then be working with someone else to create a story around these photos.

Robinwood Residential
We have had a fantastic time at Robinwood over the last three days. We did loads of activities in our groups such as climbing, the zip wire, piranha pool, giant swings and so much more. Our group leaders were fantastic and got to know our strengths and weaknesses. We remembered our school value and used a lot of self-belief to complete the tasks. Each of us stepped over the edge at some point during our visit, we learned to work better as a team and be more confident in our abilities. This trip will certainly stay in our memories for a long time to come and we are going to use our new confidence in school.

We always look forward to our Christmas Party as it is time of great celebration. We got to dance, play games and eat food. What more could a child want? We won prizes in the games and had lots of laughs throughout the afternoon.

Children in Need
The theme for ‘Children in Need’, this year, was ‘spotacular’. We came to school dressed in spotty clothes, onsies or other ‘Children in Need’ merchandise.
In our classes we covered an outline of Pudsey using any loose change we had brought in. This was followed by some time in our family groups working on a range of fun activities.

Christmas Boxes
As part of ‘Friendship Friday’ we will be packing Christmas shoeboxes, in our family groups, to send away to children who need them. We had the important job of sorting out all the kind donations and grouping them accordingly before they were distributed to the individual classes.

Dr Tom
Dr. Tom and his dog, Jed, returned to work with us on our ‘learning powers’. His approach encourages us to become confident, focused, independent and resilient learners. He has a wonderful way of making us feel more determined to succeed and try our hardest. We really enjoy having Dr. Tom in our school and are looking forward to his next visit.

Year 6 children had the privilege of attending King James Academy for a ‘Believe and Achieve’ workshop. They got to use their drama and performance skills to express themselves and learn a new Brazilian style dance. All children were a credit to our school and put 100% effort into everything they did.
