Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day 2019 was celebrated globally with the theme: Together for a better internet. The aim of Safer Internet Day is to encourage people to talk about how to use technology responsibly.
As a class we have discussed how we can look after ourselves whilst working online and looked at how we can be respectful to others. We talked about who we could share information with and how we should never share any personal information with strangers. We took part in a quiz looking at internet safety and came up with a list of steps to follow in order to be safe on-line.

Sharing our Learning – Micro:bits
We have been taught how to use micro: bits in our classroom so we thought it would be a great idea to share our learning with other children in the school We each paired up with a child from year 5 and showed them how to use them, exactly how we had been taught. We really enjoyed doing this and were pleased with everything we had remembered from our session. We are hoping there are more chances to use them in our learning.

Micro:bits
Today, we were introduced to Micro;bits and shown how by using coding we can programme them to do various commands. We started off by programming a welcome message and as we progressed we managed to get it to count up of down pressing buttons A and B. The more we worked with it, the better we got. Eventually, we were able to have it working like a fitness tracker that counted our steps as we walked. We had great fun learning this new skill and looking forward to sharing this with others.

Digital Eagles
Today we had a visit off three Digital Eagles from Barclays Bank. They came in to teach us some game building skills on Scratch. It was a great was to help us build future skills. We found it very enjoyable and the ladies were very impressed with our knowledge. We were the first school they’d been to where everyone had completed the tasks set!

LegoWeDo
Today we received some Lego WeDo kits to use in our lessons. We were taught how to use them before being able to build and create our own models. We then used a computer program called Scratch, along with our knowledge of coding, to have these models carry out a range of different commands. We are looking forward to using these again in our lessons.

Hour of Code
To help us with producing our very own mobile app we have been exploring coding. Coding is what makes it possible for developers to create computer software, apps and websites. We took turns practising our coding skills on different activities.
