Safer Internet Day

5th February 2019

Today is Safer Internet Day. To celebrate it we discussed ways we access the internet and what we do on it eg. Watch Youtube clips, play games and listened to a story about two aliens Zap and Zoom who were playing a game online. During the game Zap received a pop up asking for his full name in exchange for more points. Zap did the sensible thing and asked his dad if he was allowed to click on it. We linked this back to previous stories we had learned about sharing information online. We knew Zap had done the right thing.

E-safety

16th January 2019

Today in computing we discussed the importance of how to stay safe when playing games online. We watched a cartoon about two children who were playing a game and had to find the treasure. One person was really kind and helped them, one person was mean and called them names and another seemed kind but was an adult pretending to be a child and wanted them to tell him personal information. As a class we discussed how we should be kind when playing online and that we should tell an adult if we feel uncomfortable or have butterflies in our tummy so they can come and help us. We even made some posters about staying safe online.

Article 19:  You have the right to be protected from being hurt, either in body or mind.

Pro-bots

September/October

During ICT lessons we have been learning how to programme Pro-Bots to draw simple 2D shapes and navigate a map.

Pro-bots

03/10/18

Today in Computing we tried to navigate the UK using the Pro-bots. We thought about where we live and then made the long journey to the Queen’s house in London. We took it in turns to programme the robot to move. We then repeated this process by visiting lots of other locations across the UK.
