On Saturday 1st October a group of our children, accompanied by some members of staff, attended a service at Witton Park Methodist church. The service was to commemorate the 100th anniversary of one of the Bradford brothers receiving the Victoria Cross.
Roland Boys Bradford was the youngest of four brothers who served in the First World War and one of the three killed in action. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery and leadership whilst under fire at The Somme.
The ground was also broken to start the creation of a memorial garden in recognition of the brothers.
