During February half term Mrs Gill and Mrs Collings travelled to Mozambique as part of a Connecting Classrooms Project. They travelled with staff from other schools in our Bishop Auckland Cluster and from across the local authority. Whilst there they worked with our partner school Colegio Nyamunda in Maputo and planned a research project that both our schools will work on. It will be centred on pupil leadership and parental engagement and will focus on recycling and improving local environments: ‘No more waste!’ On the Friday Mrs Gill and Mrs Collings took part in a Connecting Classrooms Conference organised by The British Council in Mozambique. Mrs Gill, Mrs Collings and teachers from our partner school were selected to
present our project at the conference. Colegio Nyamunda is very keen to progress this link and we believe that it will be fruitful.
Mrs Gill and Mrs Collings took work and cards from each class to share with our partner school and brought lots back in return. Escomb children even set Mrs Gill and Mrs Collings some tasks and challenges to complete whilst there! They managed to do quite lot of them!
